About Me
I’m Rev. Dr. Felicia Black, and I am honored to cross paths with you. My life work revolves around promoting practice-based spirituality, fostering interspiritual literacy, and empowering Black and Brown women and their communities.
As an ordained interfaith/interspiritual minister, I offer a range of transformative services through The WellSpring Center for Renewal. Drawing from the profound wisdom of Black American Spirituality and Folk Religion-my spiritual traditions of heritage and origin- I guide individuals on a path of spiritual awakening, personal growth, and connection to their ancestral roots and life communities.
My aim is to nurture the "whole" person—addressing their needs in mind, body, spirit, and soul while honoring the wisdom and practices of the individual. Through spiritual life companionship, education consulting, and community engagement, I empower folks to embrace their authentic selves and cultivate a deep sense of fulfillment.
With a background in curriculum and instruction and human development, I have had the privilege of teaching in diverse settings for over two decades. I bring a collaborative and inquiry-based approach to my work. From being an early childhood practitioner to a mentor, teacher educator, and spiritual companion, I strive to create inclusive and empowering learning environments that honor diverse social, cultural, and spiritual backgrounds.
My commitment to social justice and belonging is deeply rooted in my lived experiences. I emphasize equity advocacy for women, with a focus on women from Black and Brown communities. I am grateful to have been recognized for my teaching and service, both in higher education and public school settings.
In addition to my ministry and teaching, I’m a community-engaged social science researcher. I’m currently the leader of the research-informed performance troupe Sankofa Sol. Through our current project, "Centering the Experiences of Black and Brown Nannies during the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Performance Inquiry," we amplify the voices of Black and Brown nannies who cared for other people’s children and families during the pandemic.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I find joy and inspiration in music, dance, movies, and spending quality time with my family. Nurturing my contemplative and playful spirit is essential for my overall well-being and enhances my work in the realms of spirituality and education.
